Standard and miniature poodles in red apricot. Standard Poodles are much less common, so the chances of buying a poorly bred puppy aren't as high. The Poodles length from breastbone to rump is approximately the same as the height at the withers. Black, blue, gray, silver, cream and white Poodles have black noses, eye-rims and lips, black or self colored toenails and very dark eyes. Breeding for appearance was only introduced in the 19th Century. According to the Finnish Kennel Club statistics there were 71 puppies registered in the year 1996 and 57 puppies in 1997. Maltese dogs are a breed that do form a truly special and close bond with their human family . Maltese dogs are very devoted and loyal to their masters, but it is critical that their masters recognize these attributes as double-edged swords. If a Maltese is properly socialized, then there should be no problems with the dog interacting with strangers and guests. Maltese dogs need lots of love and care. They require kisses and lots of affection. Maltese dogs try their best to please you. Maltese dogs have dark eyes, long drooping ears, and small feet. The ideal maximum height is 25 cm/10 in, and the weight is 3-4 kg/6.5-9 lb.

We are working with The Doberman Digest, a national Doberman fancy magazine, to publicize the plight of senior Dobes in addition to creating a national database and website dedicated to senior Dobes in need of families. Doberman puppies like to be up close and personal with various members of the family. Doberman puppies need owners that can give discipline, and will not show fear to them. Dobermans can come in black, black tan, bluish gray, fawn, red and white. Overall, they have a courageous, determined and proud look.

Dalmatians do not generally require canned dog food, however, it is sometimes useful in encouraging the finicky eater. Do not feed your Dalmatian foods with “cute” colors and shapes as these require additives that may cause or aggravate skin allergy conditions. Dalmatians crave companionship and should not be habitually left alone in a basement or backyard. The Dalmatian lives 11-13 years, though life spans of up to 16 years are not uncommon. Dalmatians are a very old breed, often thought to be the very first type of dogs for which man made deliberate attempts to selectively breed for specific characteristics. These characteristics were at first appearance, then other attributes such as stamina, endurance, and health. Dalmatians have two unique hereditary problems: Deafness and bladder stone formations. Though deaf dogs can lead happy and productive lives an make excellent house pets, there are some special considerations. Dalmatian toadflax is typically found along roadsides or railroads and in idle cropland, pastures, and rangelands, usually on comparatively dry sites with coarse, well-drained soils. Because seedlings are relatively poor competitors for soil moisture, establishment is favored by soil disturbances, such as road construction, or by overgrazing. Dalmatians are lean, medium-sized, well-proportioned dogs with distinctive black spots on white. Their muzzles are strong, eyes deeply set and their soft ears are set somewhat high.

Chow Chows will often do and behave exactly as they please, but have an underlying patience and graciousness that is easy to fall in love with. Chow chows are not only predisposed to pemphigus complex, but many are also refractory to treatment; therefore, aggressive treatment was initiated. Chow chows can live in small spaces as long as they get exercise. They can be lazy, so they must be taken on daily walks. Chow Chows are notoriously obstinate and it takes consistent, repetitive training to accomplish anything with these dogs. Owners have to take command in order to keep these dogs in line, but it training has to be tempered in order to be effective. Chow Chow was a slang term applied to the large variety of items carried by these ships. Like a nickname, the term stuck to these dogs. Chow Chows can be trusted around children, assuming that the parents supervise play activities. No large dog should be trusted with a child alone, until it is a certainty that the child will not abuse the dog and that the dog will not play too roughly and injure the child. Chow chows are an ancient breed. Some people think they may have originated in the cold Arctic Circle, from whence traders took them to China. Chow chows are famous and historically relevant because they were probably accompaniments to the Mongolian hordes during their invasions of China, the Middle East, and Europe in the early part of the last millennium. Chow chows are best known as big, red, bear-like dogs with a happy smile and a curled-over tail. They also come in black and cream and both long and short coats.

These traits combined with their independence can cause trouble. Collies should be tested for eye and hip problems. Collies have a life span of 12 to 16 years. Collies have had an enduring grip on the United Kingdom for centuries, and this has to do with their lack of aggressiveness, timidity, reticence, and negative mood. Collie puppies housetrain quickly, generally in about a week (after about 10-12 weeks old). They are good-natured, friendly, dogs. Collie Club of America’s collie rescue organization list : not all groups that rescue Collies are here, but it is a long list and a place to start. Google search “Collie Rescue” turns up hundreds of thousands of hits. Collies are generally medium-sized dogs of between 10 kg and 25 kg (22-55 lb), fairly lightly built with a pointed snout and erect or partly erect ears, giving a foxy impression. Cattle-herding types tend to be rather more stocky.

Cockers with this type of temperament are not typical of the breed. Before adopting an American Cocker, be sure to give it a puppy temperament test and if possible ask to meet the parents. Cocker Spaniels should be taken to a dog grooming professional two to four times a year to have excessive hair plucked by hand.

Before adopting an American Cocker, be sure to give it a puppy temperament test and if possible ask to meet the parents. Cocker Spaniels should be taken to a dog grooming professional two to four times a year to have excessive hair plucked by hand. The Cocker Spaniel is susceptible to ear infections, and sometimes eye infections. Cocker Spaniels are an all around great dog with a happy and loyal demeanor. Socialization at an early is a positive thing as they tend to be a little shy if they are not socialized. Cockers should be gently brushed on a regular basis, and their long hair should be trimmed at least monthly, either at home or by a professional dog groomer. Cocker spaniels have beautiful ears, but they will need grooming and maintenance as their confirmation alone can make them prone to ticks and infections. Cockers should not be left alone for extended periods of time. This can lead to frustration and subsequent behavioral problems and destructiveness. Cockers are sensitive and playful dogs, and they love people, often more than other dogs. He forms a tight, lifelong bond with his owner. Cocker Spaniels descended from one of the oldest of all dog breeds – the Spaniel. The Spaniel breeds originated in Spain and came in many shapes and sizes. Socialization at an early is a positive thing as they tend to be a little shy if they are not socialized.

Boxer dog training consists of training them up to become guard dogs this is their main profession if you like. People who do not know boxers tend to assume that they are naturally aggressive when they are in fact the opposite and could not be more playful than any other dog! Boxer dogs are extremely intelligent dogs.

Boxer dogs are extremely intelligent dogs. Because of this, Boxer dogs are able to learn quickly and complete their training. Boxer dogs love their family members, especially children. They will enjoy playing with children, but you need to ensure that you supervise play time to make sure your Boxer doesn´t play to rough with your child, or accidentally knocks a child down. Boxer dogs will quickly learn which family members they can ignore and this can become problematic if not corrected. The breed is very athletic and does require frequent exercise. Boxer dog training is fun, rewarding and a good thing about Boxers is that they are quick learners. All the basic obedience training commands such as sit, stay, come, fetch, down etc. Boxer dogs are quite popular to own. For that reason, there are many people getting into the breeding process who lack the necessary knowledge. Boxer dogs are very friendly and loyal especially to and with children. Their playful nature makes them a wonderful companion for younger children. Boxer dogs can become the most playful pet you can ever own and this proves so because their athletic build requires constant moving around which just fits their playful nature. Boxer dogs were originally cropped and decked and this has been maintained for several centuries. Yet, because of veterinary associations?

About Basset Hounds by Niki Buchen.

Basset Hounds are sturdy dogs who make good pets. They love to go for walks and use their great sense of smell to follow the trails of other animals. Basset Hounds are quite inactive indoors and are happy living in an apartment. That being said, they do require plenty of outdoor exercise, and if permitted will spend hours outside playing and running around.

Basset Hounds are quite inactive indoors and are happy living in an apartment. Basset Hounds originated in France several centuries ago and were used throughout Europe as hunting dogs. Designed by monks who wanted a slower dog that could be followed on foot, Bassets (French for low-set) proved to be excellent slow trackers of rabbit and deer. Basset Hounds are a comparatively old breed that is a direct descendant of the Bloodhound. There are numerous sources that believe the Basset Hound originated from dwarf dogs that appeared in the litters of other types of French hunting hounds. Basset Hounds are lovable and friendly, calm, good-natured and affectionate but also sensitive and stubborn in nature. They along well with people and other dogs and pets and are good with children. Basset Hounds have a slightly curved tail and very large, round feet under strong, wrinkly legs.
